Build a Homemade Hydroponics System

Discover the best homemade hydroponics systems secrets you can’t find anywhere else on the internet…

Introducing a step by step how to guide for growing virtually any plant, vegetable and fruit without soil, even if you are complete hydroponic beginner.

Building a Hydroponic Garden:

>> The mission: building a hydroponic garden for under 50 dollars.
>> The parts list:
  • The gallon tank: $9.36
  • Pump, check valve and bubble stone: $12.63
  • Styrofoam, poster board, air filter, clear caulk: $19.81
  • Bag of gravel and potted herbs: $14.86

OOOh… Over budget $6.48 but that’s dern close!

Let’s start building….

First, we need to cover the tank’s glass with poster board, this is very important, hydroponic gardens tanks need to be light tight!

Measure the dimensions of the tank then cut the poster board to the size of the tank then cover it with the poster.

Now its time to wrap the sides with contact paper like a great light tight hydroponic present!

Tool time…

Please, when using power tools always wear personal protective equipment!

Now we will cut, drill and fit our Styrofoam floating plant holder. It needs to be tight, to block out light, but it still needs to float up and down with the level of the fluid in the tank.

Now is a good time to silicone the air hose into the corner so it does not impede the movement of the floating plants.

Tape hose to corner. Leave enough to reach bubble stone. Run a bead of caulk up corner. Smooth out the bead with your finger. Then press hose into the corner. Clean up and let it dry overnight.

Day Two:

The caulk is dry and its time to assemble everything and….

Start Growing Plants!

Hook up the tank’s aeration system. Install the Styrofoam platform and filling the tank. Get the plants and pots ready. Loosen the dirt from the roots of the plants with water. Tear loose the filter material and rinse it and the gravel with clean water.

Wrap the roots gently and carefully spoon in gravel into pot. Place the pots into your hydroponic garden and enjoy the show.

  1. I appreciate you for posting such a wonderful Blog. LED grow lamps use a minimal amount of energy in comparison to corresponding HID lights, allowing horticulturists to operate more lights at a lower cost.
